Resolve, Directing the Department of Education To Amend the School Emergency Drill Rules
Sec.
1. Amend school emergency evacuation rules to include lockdown drills. Resolved: That the Department of Education shall amend Rule Chapter 125: Basic Approval Standards: Public Schools and School Administrative Units in Section 10.02, paragraph A to require lockdown drills as well as emergency evacuation drills, while keeping the total number of required drills unchanged. Rules amended pursuant to this resolve are routine technical rules as defined in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.
SUMMARY
This resolve directs the Department of Education to amend school emergency evacuation rules to include lockdown drills as well as emergency evacuation drills within the established required number of drills to be performed.
